TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT: The Trusted Ecosystem for Global Value Chain Traceability

Ghislain de Vergnette

GoodsID announces the launch of TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT, a trusted ecosystem based on the technical interoperability of solutions that contribute to the traceability of value chains, improving their visibility and compliance.

Context: A New Era for Traceability

Supply chain traceability is becoming increasingly critical for businesses worldwide. Driven by growing demand for transparency, a paradigm shift is underway with the emergence of regulations redefining the rules of due diligence. This evolution outlines a near future where traceability of flows, risk management, and end-to-end impact analysis will be a requirement for access to most markets.

Meeting these challenges requires collaboration among various stakeholders, each with distinct needs, such as mastering the origin of products, their lifecycle, journey, or environmental and social impact. No single solution can offer a complete, global, and high-quality response. This raises the question of interoperability and the selection of solutions best suited to each company. It is precisely this dual requirement that TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT addresses.

TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT Makes Traceability a Team Sport!

This innovative initiative, developed under Tilkal’s leadership, is designed to facilitate technical collaboration between tools, allowing each company to choose complementary solutions that meet their specific needs. As a true trusted ecosystem, TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT enables smooth interconnection between different perspectives contributing to traceability (such as physical marking, serialisation, geolocation, carbon footprint calculators, or environmental impact services), with the goal of organising a bidirectional data exchange that benefits all parties involved.

For example, a physical marking solution can feed the Tilkal platform with transport or product identification data, enriching the value chain traceability. Similarly, Tilkal can share traceability data with other SaaS solutions to enhance their calculations using operational traceability data. The data shared through TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT comes from real client cases, subject to client approval and/or ensuring the highest level of confidentiality when required.

TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT Is Based on Four Major Principles:

  1. 1. Interoperability: Bidirectional web APIs as the foundation of the ecosystem.
  1. 2. Openness: TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT aims to integrate a variety of solutions, whether complementary or competing, in a spirit of open coopetition.

  2. 3. Security: Each partner guarantees the protection of exchanged data using the highest security standards for their APIs.

  3. 4. Integrity: Operations are transparent, simple, and based on a technical logic. There is no favoritism or disparagement between ecosystem players.

A Commitment to the Future of Traceability

By joining TRACEABILITY OPEN CONNECT, the solutions commit to working together to create a global, open, and transparent ecosystem. This project represents a major step forward in the adoption of end-to-end traceability, enabling companies to meet transparency demands and regulatory requirements while enhancing their operational efficiency.
